Tippmann X7 Phenom Features and Design

Flex Valve Technology

The Tippmann X7 Phenom is designed with air efficiency in mind. It uses  Flex Valve Technology to lower the operating pressure to below 300 FPS. As a result, there is barely any recoil and is very air efficient. You can shoot a lot more rounds with the same amount of air because of this feature. We will discuss more about the Tippman X7 Phenom’s performance below.

Build in E-Grip

The built in E-Grip lets you switch different between different modes really easily. By flicking the switch, you can choose from full auto, NPPL, PSP, response and mechanical firing modes. The option to go back to manual mechanical firing comes in really handy when your battery dies.

Lots of Upgrade Options

Tippmann guns in general are known for being very easy to accessorize and upgrade. The X7 Phenom continues that trend by giving players the option to upgrade the marker however they want. There are over 50 accessories and mods available from Tippmann and hundreds more from third party manufacturers. It is really easy to turn the X7 Phenom into a whole range of military guns like the M-16, MP-5, AK-47, and much much more.

What made the X7 Phenom so easy to upgrade was its modular design. The stock version includes Picatinny rails which made it very easy to mount sights and handles. A lot of the main body parts such as the fore grip are detachable to make room for accessories. Tippmann even sells upgrade kits to open up the marker for upgrades.

How Well Does the X7 Phenom Perform?

We tested the Tippmann X7 Phenom out in our range to see how well it performs. Tippmann claims the X7 Phenom can fire over 1,400 rounds with a 4,500 psi 68 cubic inch tank. We took the marker and attached a Ninja 4500 psi tank to test how many rounds we could get off. The results were pretty impressive. With the Ninja tank, we fire 1,557 rounds before the air gave out.

Unsurprisingly, the X7 Phenom had very little recoil or kick. You will probably barely feel any feedback even after playing with it long duration of time. It is also a lot more quiet than similar markers such as the Tippmann 98.

The X7 Phenom can also fire balls at up to 18 balls per second on full auto. It easily beats the Tippmann US Army Alpha Black Elite in terms of fire power and is probably one of the fastest markers for under $400.

Specifications

  • Can Use CO2 or HPA

Recommend Setup for X7 Phenom

For this Tippmann x7 Phenom review, we used a stock Tippmann X7 Phenom with a Ninja 4,500 PSI Carbon Fiber tank, an upgraded Tippmann Flatline barrel and the included Cyclone Feed System. Using Flatline barrel is recommended because it dramatically increases accuracy at longer ranges and adds over 100 feet to your range. The Cyclone Feed System also worked very well with the X7 Phenom and easily feeds up to 15 balls per second to the marker. The Ninja tank is a pretty standard HPA tank for a lot of paintball markers.
