The Tippman A5 is the fully loaded model in the Tippman arsenal and cost more due to all of the built-in features that come standard. If I never played anything but woodsball, I would honestly buy an A5 and use just it. Like all of the Tippman guns, they are reliable, rugged and dependable. With the built it cyclone feed the marker really has a feature that is unique in paintball. To get the same performance from a hopper on any other gun would require an electronic hopper, which adds considerably to the cost.
All of the Tippman models have the option of a Reactive Trigger (RT) and a Flatline Barrel kit. The RT gives the Tippman Paintball marker it is installed on, an equivalent fire rate to that of the expensive electronic paintball guns. And the RT runs off of the same CO2 source that propels the paintball, no need for batteries. The Flatline barrel kit DOUBLES the range of the Tippman paintball gun it is installed on, by creating backspin (Similar to the hop-up system in an airsoft gun). No other brand in the world offers these two features, only Tippman.
Tippmann A5 is all about speed. Its patented Cyclone Feed System connects the feed tube to the air system, giving it the power to get the gun ready, delivering exactly as much ammunition as you can fire. You can disassemble the weapon completely and fold it in 60 seconds. And all without using any tools! High level of workmanship, precision, and reliability have been developed for a single purpose so that you can concentrate on one thing – eliminate your opponent!
A5 is one of the strongest markers on the market. Another important feature is its 200 early military magazine. The design of the weapon allows for a large number of upgrades such as the Flatline Barrel System, Sniper Barrel, Double Trigger, Response rigger System, E-trigger, Low-Pressure Kit and Expansion Kit. It is fully compatible with CO2, compressed air or nitrogen.

One of the biggest selling points about the Tippmann A5 is that it is design to handle a lot of use. As soon as you pick it up, you can tell it is not a cheap marker. Most of the body is composed of high quality cast aluminum. The only plastic polymer parts are the trigger and some other minor parts.
The Tippmann A5 also utilizes an inline blowback mechanism. An inline blowback design simply means the bolt, striker and valve are all next to each other horizontally. Using an inline blowback design has many advantages including using fewer moving parts as well as making the firing mechanism easier to use and troubleshoot. The Tippmann A5 is one of the best examples of the inline blowback designs.
The Tippmann A5 is also very easy to disassemble because of its simple design. There A5 only uses 4 pushpins to hold the body together. Removing the 4 pushpins will give you access to the body and all the internal parts.
Cyclone Feed System
The Cyclone Feed System is a very good hopper for beginners and it is included with the Tippmann A5. It can feed up to 15 rounds in the the marker without any batteries. Every time you fire, the marker siphons some of the air used to fire the paintball and power the Cyclone Feed System. If you happen to upgrade the A5 with the E-Grip upgrade, the Cyclone Feed System should handle it with no problem.
Designed to be Customized
What makes the Tippmann A5 so popular is that it was designed to be easy upgraded with aftermarket parts. Tippmann offers two trigger upgrades including the E-Grip selector switch kit and a Response Trigger upgrade.
Besides what Tippmann has to offer, there are many other upgrades that can be added on to the Tippmann A5. Some of these include different types of stocks, pressure kits, and barrel kits. The different types of configurations are endless.
Halls Effect E-Grip Upgrade
One of the more popular versions of the A5 that comes directly from Tippmann is the Tippmann A5 with Halls Effect E-Grip. The E-Grip allows the A5 to go full auto and fire up to 20 balls per second. The expanded firing modes include full auto, semi-automatic, turbo, and three round burst. It’s easy to switch modes by simply adjusting the knob above the trigger.
The Halls Effect E-Grip is magnetically activated and is also weather proof. Having the option to use full auto is very useful and not many guns have this option. With the E-Grip, you can fire balls faster than the basic selector grip.
Final Thoughts on the Tippmann A5
The Tippmann A5 has been around for a while and has proven itself to be one of the best woodsball and scenario markers in the market. It is great for scenario play simply because of the wide range of upgrades and customization you can give it. This marker is also perfect for any milsim games. This gun will not fail you and should last for a very long time.
